Expressions of Silence

Expressions of SilenceExpressions of SilenceExpressions of SilenceExpressions of  Silence has played a positive role in the lives of the students at the Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind, and the group serves as a wonderful ambassador for the school. Students involved with Expressions of Silence perform for groups, schools, and organizations across Montana. The wide-ranging audiences who attend performances by the Expressions of Silence encounter skilled deaf and hard-of-hearing students from grades 6 through 12. They perform to a variety of songs, using sign language and dance, after having extensively rehearsed choreography and signs which accompany the music. They have performed for the MT Legislature, the Montana Council of Exceptional Children, the Exchange Club, the Lions Club, numerous schools, and other locations across the state. The group also performs during the MSDB Christmas program and the MSDB Spring music program for the students, staff, and friends of MSDB. Upcoming 2006 performances include a March performance with the Great Falls Symphonic Choir and an April trip to Utah, where we will perform for the Music Educator’s National Conference (MENC) and with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The school is very proud of this group of students and staff. They practice diligently throughout the school year to make each performance a memorable event for those fortunate enough to attend.

At every performance, Expressions of Silence entertains the audience with a variety of songs. In efforts to promote a sense of humanity and goodwill to all individuals, regardless of their disability, the song, “Love in Any Language” has become the motto of the group. This song promotes a sense of togetherness and citizenship. It is the wish of Expressions of Silence that you leave the performance thinking that “Love in Any Language” is spoken in your home, your school, your community, and at the Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind.

Expressions of Silence

The Great Falls Symphonic Choir's spring concert was inspired by show tunes from State Fair, Barnum, Oklahoma and Wicked, a new musical about the Wicked Witch of the West. With a special appearance by the Montana School for the Deaf & Blind's "Expressions of Silence".

Expressions of Silence is a performing group comprised of 6-12th graders who perform to songs using sign language and dance. The goal of the group is to provide the students with an opportunity to increase their self-esteem, travel (throughout Montana to perform for various groups), learn new songs, signs, and various choreography. They practice diligently throughout the school year to make each performance a memorable event for those fortunate enough to attend.   - More Info - Click Here
